In a groundbreaking partnership, UNESCO and Rio Tinto have launched a project aimed at transforming Mongolia‘s tourism sector through the sustainable preservation of its rich cultural and geological heritage.
The initiative, titled “Promoting Sustainable Tourism in Mongolia through Cultural and Geo Heritage,” was unveiled on September 16, 2024, and is set to run for 36 months with a budget of $1.5 million.
The project seeks to capitalize on Mongolia’s unique natural and cultural resources to create a more sustainable and resilient tourism industry.
